There is a long and rich history of hockey in the United States. USA Hockey preserves that history and traditions.

Where it all began


USA Hockey is the national ice hockey organization in the United States. It is recognized by the International Olympic Committee and the United States Olympic & Paralympic Committee as the governing body for organized ice hockey in the United States and is a member of the International Ice Hockey Federation. Before June 1991, the organization was known as the Amateur Hockey Association of the United States (AHAUS).

The organization is based in Colorado Springs, Colorado. Its mission is to promote the growth of ice hockey in the U.S. USA Hockey programs support and develop players, coaches, officials, and facilities. USA Hockey also has junior ice hockey and senior ice hockey programs, and supports a disabled ice hockey program. USA Hockey provides certification programs for coaches and officials. Members of the organization receive a subscription to USA Hockey Magazine.

WE ARE HIRING – New District Coordinator Positions

Level 1 Coordinator, N.E. District

The Level 1 Coordinator helps to run and advocate for the Buddy and Mentor Programs. The Level 1 Coordinator will need to work with the New England District states and affiliates and state coordinators to ensure that each program is being run effectively and properly. As well as running these programs, will work with the District RIC and Development Coordinator on setting up events that will help level 1’s learn more about their role and responsibility as an official. The Level 1 Coordinator will also be one of the first lines of contact for level 1 officials as they start their officiating career. 

  • Oversee and maintain the district programs such as the Buddy and Mentor Programs 
  • Identify and appoint state Coordinators 
  • Keep each state coordinator accountable to running the program 
  • Be the first line of contact for all level 1’s to help with any issues and questions they have
  • Help to make a level 1’s season successful and bring up district retention rates 

Evaluation Coordinator, N.E. District

The Evaluation Coordinator will oversee and run the evaluation program set up by New England District. The Evaluation Coordinator will need to work with state affiliates as well as state and local RIC’s to ensure officials who need to be evaluated for various district events and above are being supervised. The Evaluation Coordinator will need to work with the Development Coordinator to make sure all weekend events and district camps are properly evaluated using the district evaluation program. 

  • Oversee and run evaluations/supervision in all states 
  • Work with state affiliations and local assignors to utilize the district evaluation system
  • Work on creating and improving the evaluation program when needed 
  • Work with the Development Coordinator officials who want to develop and have them evaluated for events such as weekend camps, day/night camps, states and regionals
